“Sophisticated.  Artful.  Delectable.  Miloscia and Kacmar’s truly accomplished songs,

which aspire to and reach Sondheim country, could be slipped into any current Broadway show and probably stop it.”

— The Cleveland Free Times

“It was really funny and good.  I loved it.”

— Emily Loewe, age 7

Bio

IF THE SHOE FITS was selected “Directors’ Choice” Award winner by Tony Award-winning director John Rando, as part of the juried National Music Theatre Network “Broadway USA!” program.  The show was also the only musical featured in the prestigious “Next Stage” Festival at the Cleveland Play House.
IF THE SHOE FITS was presented at the Lion Theatre on Theatre Row, NYC, as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.  The production starred Tony Award-winning actress Michele Pawk (Hollywood Arms, Cabaret, Bounce).  In addition to Ms. Pawk, the cast included Broadway performers Susann Fletcher (Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, The Full Monty, Guys & Dolls), Patrick Ryan Sullivan (42nd Street, Titanic), Lee Zarrett (Jane Eyre), Jamison Stern (By Jeeves), Justin Brill (Rent, High Fidelity), Amanda Butterbaugh (Nunsense) and newcomer, Elizabeth Bauer as the heroine.  In addition, one of fashion’s hottest maverick designers, Holly Kristen, designed the show’s “magical” red shoes expressly for the presentation, while legendary dancer/actress Marge Champion assisted with the musical staging.

SHOW SYNOPSIS
Called “the illegitimate offspring of Ugly Betty, Urinetown and Cinderella,” IF THE SHOE FITS is a holiday story of romance, ambition and good old-fashioned depravity.  Inspired by, but diverting from, the stories of Hans Christian Andersen, IF THE SHOE FITS is a fractured fairy tale for the entire family.  It is the story of an orphan girl and her journey to find a pair of enchanted shoes — and the true meaning of beauty.  Joining her is a comic assortment of characters, each on a personal journey of his/her own.  There is a brusque Viking ghost, an imperious imperial princess, a dominatrix of a ballet mistress, her dastardly daughter, a klutzy cobbler, a dithering melancholy Dane (a very-non-Shakespearean Hamlet) and a caustic talking skull (poor Yorick, of course).
The date is a time of wonder.  The place is a land of pure enchantment.  It’s Christmas Eve, there’s a clot in the royal bloodline and an irreverent cast of characters create chaos as they vie for some fancy — and very magical — footwear!  When the clock tower strikes midnight and the Christmas snow falls, If the Shoe Fits comes to a happy conclusion when everyone learns to "never judge a shoe by its color… because what matters is its inner sole."  (Hey, this ain't Shakespeare.)
